CIMAS stands for Computerised Information Management Access System. It is a sophisticated data collection and dissemination tool that harnesses the combined power of wireless handheld technology and the Internet.

How CIMAS Works
Equipped with a CIMAS handheld device, users move through an
environment, entering observed data into purpose-built electronic
forms. At an appropriate time they access the CIMAS web portal and
upload their findings via a GPRS wireless Internet connection.
Authorised users can then log into the internet portal (anywhere in
the world) and see real-time information. With CIMAS, software managers
can generate targeted reports that provide up-to-the-minute statistical
information as well as trend-analysis reports and other business
information. Triggers can be used to automatically email the latest
data to registered CIMAS supervisors/managers and to other authorised
users of the CIMAS devices. The information can alert managers to any
corrective action that may need to be managed.
At the heart of the CIMAS system is a very customisable and flexible
framework that facilitates a wide variety of industry specific business
applications.
The web server provides the option for authorized users to generate
exception reports that identify the date that inspections were carried
out and whether there was an exception to the agreed schedule.
Cimas - Value Proposition
Clients using CiMAS have been able to;
* significantly reduce unproductive travel time by having the field
personnel carry out duties and capture the data via CiMAS rather than
paper based forms and upload the data immediately rather then have to
come back to the office at the end of the day or week
* They also save hours by not having to input data to a computer,
* additionally they do not have to double handle data, and can
generate reports electronically rather than having to spend hours
putting reports together.
in term of human error
* The data captured at the site reduces the error in double
handling of data error in trying to remember information after the
fact, Using CiMAS forces them to do it at the location before they move
to the next client.
* Additionally being able to inspect and report at a site
level allows any errors to be identified and rectified before issues
get out of hand and the client relationship is damaged.
*
in term of man power
* The savings per field operator means that less personnel are
need to achieve the same results. A saving of 1 hours a day can mean
instead of 9 field personnel the same outcome could be achieved with 8.
in term of time consumption
* The process actually reduces time loss, when an operator has
learnt to use the tools they can get their work done more efficiently
and effectively and would not be without the tools, imagine not having
a mobile phone. The combined use of CiMAS and the reports allows all
stakeholders to access the data in real time and make informed
decisions based on current data rather than historic data.
