Any wireless network has the capability to deliver business applications that encourages business transactions within the region, area and businesses within the area. One such example is the use of a business and infrastructure portal that presents invaluable information for businesses to locate information for better business and revenue generation.

A business portal would allow businesses to be closer to their clients. Clients ranging from Wi-Fi users to a non-IT literate layman would benefit from businesses that offer a range of services to improve the consumer experience. Tasks such as 24 hours shopping, online ordering systems and up-to-date inventory systems have the potential to improve sales and market penetration for businesses that have access to wireless networks. Business portals have the capacity to increase tourism and retail traffic, ultimately encouraging further economic development.

A facility portal allows the network operators to collaborate with businesses to record any defects, issues and improvements that could be made either to the network or as point of recording for authorities to refer to. It could be extended to provide the ability for consumers to locate Wi-Fi hotspot in the area or locate points of interests such as buildings, toilets or conference rooms that are within the coverage of the network.
